Tulum

Tulum, the only Mayan city built on the sea, was located a few miles south of the resort. We had a free excursion, and this was a half day trip, so we wouldn't miss beach, pool, and bar time.

The water looked so refreshing and it was so hot, I was tempted to leap into the jagged rocks for some cool water. But my camera wasn't waterproof, so I didn't.
If you look closely at the top of the thatched roof above, you will see one of this guys friends hanging at the top. The iguanas are the only residents of this ancient city. Well it was abandoned in the 1500's so it isn't that ancient, but it is cool.

Thank goodness it was a half day trip, it was extremely hot and humid and there wasn't a lot of shade. I took pictures for the first half of the trip and gave up, it was too hot.
